Nearly every day I leave my computer home running to perform tasks while I'm away, like downloading large files, advanced system scanning, updating applications, etc. A program that I found pretty useful, especially in the presented situation, is System Scheduler. This application not only manages occurring errors while I'm not at the PC, but also launches programs and displays reminders.
Even though you might consider its interface simple, when adding new events you could run into some difficulties if you are a beginner user; configuring schedules for application launches might require some system administrating experience.
An advantage I think you will find pretty useful is the fact that the application will make sure that any error window appears on your screen while you're away will be minimized or closed. In this manner, the running applications will proceed with their tasks.
I would've added one more utility to this program, like a shut down scheduler, which would turn off the computer once all programmed events are completed. As for the rest, I think you will find System Scheduler as beneficial as I did due to its efficient service.
